BOARD PROFILES
Chairman of the Board – John A. Daley
John Daley is an aerospace engineer who manages and develops programs related to National Security. He also consults with entrepreneurs, providing the tools necessary for small businesses to expand. John has been SCUBA certified since 2000 and has over 250 dives, many on wreck sites. He has a long standing dedication to volunteerism with over 10 years experience directing non-profit organizations.
Executive Director – Eleanore Rewerts
Eleanore Rewerts has 35+ years experience in administration/accounting/marketing management, and is certified in Paralegal Studies and Grant Writing. She served as VP Administration for CS2R from November 2006 through September 2007. She is VP Marketing and a Director of Northern California Oceans Foundation (a Sink Group). Eleanore was also Secretary/Treasurer of Under Pressure Dive Society, a 501(c)(3) corporation prior to its dissolution in 2007.
Senior Vice President, Science – Andrew Lee
Andrew Lee is Executive Vice-President, Marine Eco Systems for Commercial Marine Biology Institute based in Beverly Hills, CA and has involvement in the worldwide projects of CMBI. More specifically, he holds general responsibility for the science and construction of the company's Abalone aquaculture project on the Pacific coast of Baja California as well as a large Giant Kelp reforestation project in the same area. Prior to becoming involved with CMBI Andrew operated a private aquariology consulting company based in Los Angeles where he became internationally recognized for his ability in aquariology and mariculture projects. Additionally, in 1994 Andrew achieved the SCUBA certification of Divemaster and has become well known working on several of the day charter SCUBA boats operating out of the Southern California area. During his dive career Andrew has dived on over 20 ship wrecks around the world and he has dived heavily in the Caribbean, Hawaii and Baja California and has logged over 800 dives in California's Channel Islands alone.
Vice President, Reef Development,
and Chief Financial Officer – Dean A. Rewerts
Dean Rewerts served on the Board of Directors of California Association of State Investigators for 15 years, including 5 years as President. He also served on the Board of Directors of California Union of Safety Employees for 7 years, acting as Legislative Committee Chairman. Dean is a Director and VP, Governmental Relations for Northern California Oceans Foundation (a Sink Group).
Director – Michael J. King
Michael King is a Structural Engineer (Licensed as an S.E. in California, Nevada, Arizona) for San Diego firm Curry Price Court for the last 12 years. His prior experience includes 5 years as Construction Manager for the San Diego Unified Port District. Michael has organized many large projects and been responsible for the construction of these projects including the Remodel of Lindbergh Field (1994-1995). He has worked on many waterfront projects both in design and in construction administration roles.
Director – Samuel Larkin
Samuel Larkin is a retired Naval Commander having served 16 years aboard the USS Tripoli and Commander Third Fleet, Reserve Unit, Naval Training Center, San Diego, CA. He has been General Manager of Language, Learning and Speech Center in San Luis Obispo for 13 years, and owner/general manager of several consulting businesses in the computer, construction and computer industries.
Director – Harvey Schmiedeke
Harvey Schmiedeke is a Certified Management Consultant and founder of Survival Strategies, offering business consulting services to owners of private practices. He is founder and President of Sunken Treasures Society of Los Angeles (a Sink Group). Harvey is an avid diver.
Chief Advisor to the Board – Dick Long
Dick Long is one of the pioneers of the diving industry and the founder of Diving Unlimited International. In 1965 he worked as a contract diver for the U.S. Navy in the Arctic and from 1965 through 1972 he operated his own commercial diving company. He is past Chairman of San Diego Oceans Foundation (a Sink Group). His consuming passion during the last few years has been the management of the sinking of HMCS Yukon, a former Canadian Navy ship, which has become an artificial reef for divers.
